Recovery
For scalp scaling and itching, Dr. Harlan typically has his adult patients rotate between shampooing with DHS® Zinc and a ketoconazole (Nizoral®) shampoo each day. Example: Day 1: Zinc, Day 2: Nizoral®, Day 3: Zinc etc.
If required, Dr. Harlan will tell his patients that they can get additional relief by applying SmartLotion® directly to the scalp 1x per night for up to 4 weeks.
To apply SmartLotion®, first part the hair and apply directly to the scalp. Dr. Harlan recommends that his patients wear a shower cap at night to protect their pillowcases as well as help prevent scratching.
